Tigers Test Their Moxie Against Top Tier Teams; Set Personal Best Records

2021 CAROLINA CHALLENGE | FULL RESULTS

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Savannah State men's and women's indoor track & field teams faced the top echelon of competition within their sport on Saturday at the 2021 Carolina Challenge, hosted by the University of South Carolina.

Into his 22 year at Savannah State, Head Track & Field Coach Ted Whitaker continually pits his teams against the best competition he can seek out, pushing his sprinters and jumpers to compete at the highest level they can muster.

Even after Savannah State shifted to NCAA Division II last year, the track & field team has continued to compete against top NCAA Division I runners in the nation. At the Carolina Challenge on Saturday, the Tigers shared the track with several of the current top runners in Division I.

A couple of new Tigers set personal best records on Saturday. Freshman Teauna Thomas ran a personal best 7.98 in the preliminaries of the women's 60 meter dash. In the men's 60 meter dash prelims, freshman Tracy White ran a personal best 7.10 to finish in 14th place.
