SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State outdoor men's and women's track and field teams hosted 15 opponents in the annual Blue and Orange this past Saturday at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.

The Lady Tigers finished in fourth overall with a team score of 68. The Tigers secured fifth place in the team standings with a team score of 59. Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) foe Benedict College won both the women's the men's scoring. Benedict's women's team bested the field of eight with a team score of 153 while the men racked up a total score of 189 to lead the field of nine teams.

Ny'em Bozeman, who doubles at Savannah State as a defensive back for the football team, again led the Tigers in the field this week. Bozeman finished second in the high jump with a 1.98m effort. He was bested by Benedict's Cameron Harris who won the event with a 2.03m jump.

Elsewhere in the field,
Tracy Gaston, a former Savannah State football player, finished 12
th in the long jump with a 5.84m effort.

Ihsan Muhammad led the Tigers in a several of the throwing events. He finished ninth in the shot put with a 10.85m toss, 11
th in the discus throw with a 29.76m effort and seventh in the hammer throw with a 21.90m effort. Nicholas Briddy was close behind Muhammad in the shot put and hammer throw with a 10.78m toss in the shot put and an 18.21m effort in the hammer throw. Â

Briddy beat his teammate in the javelin throw, however, with a 30.40m toss, finishing in fourth place. Muhammad recorded a 23.87m toss for eighth place in the javelin event.

On the track,
Darryl Wiltz and
Andre Valcin led the Tigers in separate events. Wiltz finished second in the 110m hurdles with a time of 14.95. He finished third in the 400m hurdles with a time of 58.19 followed by teammate
Anthony Tuggle in fourth place with a time of 1:00.52.

Valcin ran a 48.76 in the 400m dash to finish second. He was beat by Clayton State's Chris Florence who ran a 48.27. In the 800m run, Narhmartey Djangmah finished fourth with a time of 1:57.31.
Kyce Gray led Savannah State in two separate races. He ran an 11.16 in the 100m dash to finish in fourth and a 22.94 in the 200m dash to finish 10
th.

The Tigers fared decently in the relays. Bozeman, Valcin, Gray and Eric Roberts ran a 43.73 in the 4x100m relay to finish sixth. Djangmah, Valcin, Wiltz and Gray finished 11
th in the 4x400m relay with a time of 3:29.63.

The Savannah State outdoor men's and women's track and field teams continue the 2020 season with the Georgia Southern GATA on March 13-14 in Statesboro, Ga.
