Box Score SAVANNAH, Ga.- Trailing 3-2, Alabama State scored four runs in the top of the seventh inning, in a 6-3 victory over Savannah State in a game played at Lady Tiger Field.
Both team had ten hits in the non-conference game and both teams left eight runners on base.
The Hornets left the bases loaded in the first inning but were able to score one run for the early lead.
SSU tied the score in the bottom of the third when
Kameryn Baker's single allowed
Stacie Smith to cross home plate.
A solo home run by Amira James in the top of the fifth gave ASU a 2-1 advantage but Savannah State answered with a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning as
Amaiya Green Green blasted a two-run double that scored Smith and
Cortni Jones to put the Lady Tigers back in front 3-2.
The Hornets scored four times off four hits in the seventh to go ahead by three. Savannah State could only manage a single by Green in the bottom of the seventh as they dropped their ninth straight came to fall to 6-27.
Smith, Jones and Green all had two hits for SSU. Smith scored twice and Green had two RBI.
Faith Dickerson was tagged with the loss. Dickerson walked three and struck out four.
James led ASU (20-20) by going three for four at the plate with two RBI and scoring twice. Justine Jean was the winning pitcher. Jean walked three but struck out six.
