NORFOLK, Va.- Savannah State junior outfielder
Aaron Straker has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week.
In a weekend series where the Tigers won two of three games from the defending conference champions, North Carolina A&T, the Brooklyn, New York native hit .545, drove in six runs and scored four times.
Savannah State opened the weekend road series with a 3-2 win on March 29. In that game, Straker went 2-for 4 with one RBI and one run.
The Tigers lost the second game, 6-5 on March 30 but Straker once again went 2-for-4 at the plate and scored a run.
In the series finale on March 31, Straker had a double and a home run in the 10-4 SSU win. Straker finished the game going 2-for -3 with five RBI and two runs.
Straker ended the weekend going 6-for-11 at the plate with three singles, two doubles and a home run. He also had a .649 slugging percentage and a .452 on base percentage.
