SSU Starts Homestand with Coppin State

SAVANNAH, Ga.- The Savannah State women's and men's basketball teams will starts a four-game home-stand on February 9 when they take on Coppin State.
 
The Lady Tigers will play at 4 p.m. and the SSU men will tip-off at 6 p.m.
 
Savannah State will play Morgan State on Feb. 11 at 5:30 p.m./7:30 p.m., Florida A&M on Feb. 16 at 4 p.m./6 p.m. and Bethune-Cookman on Feb. 18 at 5:30 p.m./7:30 p.m.
 
The SSU women (4-13, 2-6 MEAC), who hope to snap a five game losing skid,  are coming off of a 78-46 road setback to Maryland-Eastern Shore.
 
Azhana Maxwell scored 10 points against the Hawks.
 
This is the second meeting of the season for Savannah State and CSU. The Lady Tigers defeated Coppin State on the road on January 5 by a score of 76-70.
 
In the win over Coppin State, the Lady Tigers had five players to score in double figures.

Ta'Quasia Lampkin came off the bench to score 15 points, Myasia Jones scored 14,Jacquece Alston had 13, Alexus Bryant scored 12 and Jalea Gray contributed 10 points. Lampkin also had five steals and Bryant had nine rebounds and four blocks.
 
Chance Graham averages 16 points and 11.9 rebounds per game for CSU (2-19, 2-7 MEAC).
 
The Savannah Sate men have won two in a row. In their last outing, the Tigers (7-15, 4-4 MEAC) downed Maryland-Eastern Shore 68-63 in Princess Anne, Maryland.
 
Zach Sellers had a game-high 19 points, Qua Smith scored 15 points, Romani Hansen added 11 and Jaquan Dotson grabbed 12 rebounds in the victory.
 
Coppin State defeated SSU earlier this season, 73-67. In that game, Tyrell Harper led Savannah State with 18 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks. Dotson added 14 points, seven rebounds and three assists while Hansen chipped in 12 points before fouling out.
 
Dejuan Clayton averages 13.6 points a game for Coppin State (5-19, 5-4 MEAC).
