SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State University men's basketball coach
Clevan Thompson has announced the addition of six newcomers to the Tiger program ahead of the 2026-27 season.
Thompson has brought in three players with junior college experience, two from the high school ranks and one Division I transfer. Two of the newcomers hail from Georgia, two are from Texas, one is a native of Tennessee and one is a international student from Nigeria.
Antonio Sisk II | 6'1" CG | Dallas, Texas
Antonio Sisk II is a proven scorer and experienced point guard with success at both the junior college and Division I levels. A Dallas, Texas native and James Madison High School product, Sisk starred at Dallas College Cedar Valley before continuing his career at Mississippi Valley State University. During the 2023-24 season, he earned First Team All-Conference and All-Region V honors while leading his conference in scoring at 18.6 points per game, including an impressive 23.1 points per game in conference play. His accomplishments included NJCAA National Player of the Week and Dallas Athletic Conference Player of the Week recognition. At Mississippi Valley State, Sisk appeared in 28 games with 15 starts during the 2024-25 season, averaging 6 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 assists per game while shooting 40% from three-point range. Despite an injury-shortened 2025-26 campaign, he was nominated for the HBCU All-Star Game, highlighting his continued impact and potential at the Division I level.
The name Antonio Sisk should sound familiar to Savannah State fans. Sisk's father, Antonio Sisk played quarterback at SSU in the late 1990s before a injury sidelined his playing career. He later became the athletic department equipment manager.
DJ Miller | 6'0" PG | San Antonio, Texas
DJ Miller is an accomplished floor general who completed one of the most decorated high school careers in Texas. A graduate of St. John Paul II High School, Miller amassed over 1,000 career points while establishing himself as one of the state's premier point guards. His resume includes First Team All-State honors, District MVP, McDonald's All-American Nominee recognition, Academic All-State honors, and multiple All-District selections. Miller finished his senior season averaging 24 points, 6 assists, 5 rebounds, and 5 steals per game while ranking among Texas' leaders in scoring, assists, and steals. Known for his ability to score, facilitate, and defend at a high level, Miller brings leadership, toughness, and a winning mentality to the point guard position.
Bryce Scurlark | 6'6" Guard | Atlanta, Georgia
Bryce Scurlark is a versatile 6'5" guard with experience competing at multiple levels of college basketball. An Atlanta, Georgia native, Scurlark developed at North Atlanta High School and The Skills Factory before continuing his collegiate career at Southeastern Community College and Dyersburg State Community College. With his size, athleticism, and ability to impact the game from the perimeter, Scurlark averaged 13 points per game and has consistently demonstrated the ability to score and contribute on both ends of the floor. His combination of length and skill set makes him an intriguing prospect capable of playing multiple perimeter positions.
Chace North | 6'5" Guard | Carrollton, Georgia
Chace North has established himself as one of Georgia's premier high school players. The Central High School standout compiled an impressive list of accolades, including two Region 3-AAAA Player of the Year awards, two Offensive Player of the Year honors, three All-Region selections, two First Team All-State selections, and the prestigious Ralph Hilburn Award. North also earned recognition as an AJC Super 11 selection and finished his career with over 1,000 points. Averaging 24.3 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists per game while shooting 54% from the field, North showcased elite scoring efficiency and versatility. Ranked among the Top 25 players in Georgia, he possesses the size, scoring ability, and competitive drive to make an immediate impact at the next level.
Hugh McFarland | 6'1" Guard | Memphis, Tennessee
Hugh McFarland is a dynamic play-making guard from Germantown High School in Memphis, Tennessee. After helping lead his team to Region II and District Championships, McFarland continued his development at ASU Mid-South, where he emerged as one of the nation's top facilitators. During the season, he averaged 13.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 7.3 assists per game while earning Second Team All-Region honors. His 256 assists ranked second nationally among junior college players, showcasing his elite court vision and ability to create opportunities for teammates. McFarland combines leadership, pace, and basketball IQ to effectively control games from the point guard position.
Fortune Anslem-Ibe  | 7'0" Center | Lagos, Nigeria
Fortune Anslem-Ibe is a 7'0", 225-pound center from Lagos, Nigeria. He attended Binta High School in Nigeria before continuing his academic and athletic career at Independence Community College (KS). A dominant interior presence, Fortune led Independence CC in both field goal percentage and total blocks during the 2025-26 season. His impact on the defensive end placed him among the Top 5 players in the KJCCC in total blocks, blocks per game, and field goal percentage, showcasing his efficiency around the rim and ability to protect the basket.  In addition to his success on the court, Fortune excelled in the classroom, earning NJCAA All-Academic Second Team honors. With his size, length, rim protection, and academic discipline, he brings tremendous value as a high-level post player.
When Anslem-Ibe suits up in a Tiger uniform, he will make history as the tallest player in SSU history.
Thompson completed his first full season as the Savannah State head coach during the 2025-26 campaign, leading the Tigers to a 16-12 overall and 15-9 conference record and an East Division #3 seed in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament.
