SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University men's basketball will officially turn its attention toward the 2026-27 campaign as head coach Clevan Thompson, senior forward Kelvin Cochran and senior guard Zion Davis represent the Tigers at the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Basketball Media Day on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
The annual event will be held at the Morrow Center in Morrow, Georgia, bringing together coaches and student-athletes from across the SIAC to preview the upcoming men's and women's basketball seasons.
Media Day is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. following registration at 9:30 a.m. SIAC Commissioner Dr. Anthony Holloman will deliver an opening address before the conference unveils its predicted order of finish for the upcoming season.
Thompson, Cochran and Davis are scheduled to take part in the men's basketball portion of the program at 11:20 a.m., appearing alongside representatives from Tuskegee.
The Tigers enter the new campaign with momentum under Thompson, who enters his second full season as Savannah State's head coach. Thompson guided Savannah State to an SIAC championship and NCAA Tournament appearance during his first full season at the helm in 2025.
Cochran and Davis will join Thompson in representing the program as the Tigers discuss preparations for the upcoming season and their return to the court in 2026-27.
Savannah State's trip will begin Monday, Sept. 28, with participation in the SIAC Basketball Community Service Day. The Savannah State contingent has been assigned to Sequoyah Middle School in Riverdale, Georgia, for a Collegiate Chat/Fireside Conversation beginning at 4 p.m.
Thompson, Cochran and Davis will be joined by representatives from Savannah State women's basketball and the Tigers' Student-Athlete Advisory Committee during the community service event.
The formal Media Day program concludes at 11:40 a.m., followed by an open media session beginning at 11:45 a.m. The event is scheduled to conclude at 3 p.m.
The appearance marks another step toward the start of Savannah State's 2026-27 season as Thompson and the Tigers prepare to batle for their third SIAC cfampionship in the last four years.
