SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (8-20, 3-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) hosts the final three home games this weekend to conclude an eight-game homestand against North Carolina A&T State University (7-29, 4-5 MEAC) this weekend at Lady Tiger Softball Field.
The series starts with a doubleheader Saturday that starts at 3 and 5 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon for Senior Day with the Senior Day festivities starting at 11:40 a.m.
The Lady Tigers are led by senior center fielder
Brianna Harris with a .407 (37-for-91) batting average, while junior third baseman
Cortni Jones has a .347 (26-for-75) batting average and senior right fielder
Shelby Eccles has a .329 (23-for-70) batting average.
On the mound, freshman pitcher has a 2-3 record with a 3.62 ERA and 13 strikeouts, while senior pitcher
Amanda Hallman has a 5-8 record with a 4.28 ERA and 52 strikeouts.
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .264 (183-for-694) with 108 runs scored, 29 doubles, five triples, nine home runs and 98 RBIs, while on the mound, SSU is sporting a 5.21 ERA while striking out 90 batters.
The Aggies have lost five of the last six games and are led by Zadaisha Waddell with a .380 (30-for-79) batting average and Stephanie Williams with a .296 (29-for-98) batting average. On the mound, Mohagony Headen has a 4-6 record and a 4.06 ERA with 74 strikeouts, while Waddell has a 2-7 record and a 4.08 ERA with 30 strikeouts.
As team, NCAT is hitting .250 (235-for-940) with 34 doubles, five home runs, 90 RBIs and 104 runs scored, while on the mound, the Aggies have a 5.58 ERA with five saves and 114 strikeouts.
The Lady Tigers finish the regular season with a three-game series against South Carolina State University next weekend, April 28-29 with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon in Orangeburg, S.C.
