SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (8-17, 3-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) hosts Florida A&M University (16-23, 8-1 MEAC) this weekend at Lady Tiger Softball Field.
Due to rain in the forecast Sunday, the three game series has been changed to a single-game Friday at 5 p.m. and a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m.
The Lady Tigers are led by senior center fielder
Brianna Harris with a .388 (31-for-80) batting average, while junior third baseman
Cortni Jones has a .369 (24-for-65) batting average and senior right fielder
Shelby Eccles has a .344 (21-for-61) batting average.
On the mound, freshman pitcher
Tanisha Williams has a 2-2 record with a 3.33 ERA and has recorded 10 strikeouts, while senior pitcher
Amanda Hallman has a 5-7 record with a 4.29 ERA and 42 strikeouts.
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .270 (164-for-607) with 99 runs scored, 25 doubles, five triples, eight home runs and 89 RBIs, while on the mound, SSU is sporting a 5.11 ERA while striking out 77 batters.
The Rattlers nine of the last 11 games, including eight against MEAC opponents, and are led by Taylor Rosier with a .337 (32-for-95) batting average and Tyra Bowers with a .311 (32-for-103) batting average. On the mound, FAMU is led by Kyaira Brown with an 11-9 record and a 2.80 ERA with 92 strikeouts and Veronica Burse with a 5-13 record and a 3.48 ERA and 73 strikeouts.
As a team, FAMU is hitting .236 (238-for-1008) with 32 doubles, 14 home runs, 108 RBIs and 126 runs scored, while on the mound, the Rattlers are sporting a 3.30 ERA with 169 strikeouts.
The Lady Tigers finish the homestand with a three-game series against North Carolina A&T University next weekend from April 21-22 with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and a single-game Sunday at noon for the home finale and for Senior Day.
