SAVANNAH, Ga. – Junior Kanani Lodge of the Savannah State University women's field team set her own school-record of 32.90 meters beating her previous best of 32.87 meters (107-11) set last weekend at the Savannah State Tiger Relays Saturday at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.
 
The men's track team recorded eight top-10 finishes, including winning the 1,600-sprint medley with a time of 3:30.90.  Freshman Carlous Bartee finished fourth in the 100-meter dash preliminary round with a time of 11.00 and finished fifth in the finals with a time of 10.92.
 
Freshman Ermias Tewolde finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 17:39.86, while freshman Terrence Sessoms finished sixth with a time of 18:05.76 and sophomore Atakilti Sahlu finished seventh with a time of 18:09.63.  Freshman Jordan Whitaker finished fifth in the 400-meter dash with a time of 53.31.
 
Savannah State 4x200-meter relay team of Bartee, senior Andre Houser-Cross, freshman Ismail Abdul and senior Donterious Copeland finished fifth with a time of 1:30.79, while the 4x800-meter relay team of sophomore Abbas Abbkar, Sahlu, junior Cameron Pack and Tewolde finished third with a time of 8:14.49.
 
The men's field team recorded two top-two finishes including Copeland's win in the triple jump with a jump of 14.12 meters (46-4) and senior Malik Franklin finished second in the long jump with a distance of 6.86 meters (22-6.25).  Junior LaRon James finished 16^th in the long jump with a jump of 3.45 meters (11-4).
 
The women's track recorded nine top-10 finishes, including two wins.  Freshman Oneillia Fuller won the 400-meter dash with time of 58.41, followed by freshman Carlandra Jones finished third with a time of 59.74 and sophomore Danielle Derricho finished 10^th with a time of 1:04.58.
 
Savannah State 4x400-meter relay team of sophomore Cayla William, sophomore Jada Morgan, Jones and Fuller won the event with a time of 3:59.94, while another SSU team of senior Miara Elmore, Derricho, freshman Autumn Brown and freshman Ashley Devert finished fourth with a time of 4:19.86.
 
Morgan finished fifth in the 100-meter dash preliminary round with a time of 12.36 and finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.18, while Brown finished ninth with a time of 12.79.  Elmore finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:10.02 and Savannah State's 4x200-meter relay team of Brown, Jones, Morgan and William finished third with a time of 1:44.80.
 
The women's field team recorded 12 additional top-10 finishes, including senior Faith Shears' win in the discus throw with a distance of 38.16 meters (125-2), while Lodge finished second with a throw of 35.68 meters (117-0).  Fuller finished second in the high jump with a jump of 1.50 meters (4-11) and senior Kourtney Sizemore finished second in the pole vault with a distance of 2.50 meters (8-2.5).
 
Devert finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 10.97 meters (36-0), while sophomore Bryshea Jackson finished third with a jump of 10.94 meters (35-10.75).  Jackson finished second in the long jump with a distance of 5.13 meters (16-10), while Devert finished sixth with a jump of 5.10 meters (16-8.75).
 
Shears finished second in the hammer throw with a distance of 43.96 meters (144-2), while Lodge finished sixth with a throw of 28.79 meters (94-5).  Lodge finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 10.25 meters (33-7.5) and Shears finished ninth in the javelin throw with a throw of 22.20 meters (72-10).
 
Other men's track results include senior Randolph Barratt finished 14^th in the 400-meter dash with a time of 1:02.47, while on the women's track team, William finished 13^th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.33
 
The men's and women's track and field concludes the three-meet homestand with the Tiger Orange and Blue meet in a week on Saturday, March 10 at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.
