SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (4-11) hosts University of Maryland Eastern Shore (0-16) Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. at Lady Tiger Softball Field before starting with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference play this weekend.
The Lady Tigers are led by senior center fielder
Brianna Harris with a .457 (21-for-46) batting average, while junior third baseman has a .389 (14-for-36) batting average and senior right fielder
Shelby Eccles has a .372 (16-for-43) batting average.
On the mound, senior pitcher
Amanda Hallman leads the team with a 3-5 record and with a 5.00 ERA with 27 strikeouts, while sophomore Hannah Deckle has a 1-0 record with a 6.21 ERA.
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .277 (96-for-347) with 61 runs scored, 16 doubles, two triples, three home runs and 53 RBIs, while on the mound, SSU is sporting a 6.01 ERA while striking out 46 batters.
The Hawks are looking for its first win and has gone 0-8 against MEAC teams this season and are led by Samantha Casarez with a .326 batting average and Breana Florez with a .314 batting average. On the mound, Nasya Goodman has a 0-6 record with a 7.80 ERA, while LeAnn Gingrich has a 0-8 record and a 16.80 ERA.
As a team, MDES is batting .197 (72-for-365) with 35 runs scored, 10 doubles and a home run with 34 RBis, while on the mound, the Hawks are sporting a 12.58 ERA with 31 streikouts.
The Lady Tigers begin MEAC play this weekend with a three-game series against Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Fla., to start a six-game roadstand. The series starts with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon.
