TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- The Savannah State men's cross country team finished their 2018 season by participating in the NCAA Division I South Regional which was held at Tallahassee's Apalachee Regional Park.

Abbas Abbkar was Savannah State's top performer, finishing the 10k event with a time of 35:42.9 to finish 132nd.
Â
Suheib Mohamed was next to cross the finish line for SSU with a time of 36:09.4 to place 138th.

Terrance Sessoms,
Cameron Pack and
Sahlu Atakilti round out the SSU runners who participated.
Â
Sessoms and Pack were back-to-back with times of 36:46.2 and 36:56.9 respectively to finish the course 147th and 148th. Atakilti was 150th with a run of 37:11.9.

The lone historically black institution to run in the South Regional, Savannah State finished the event 24th.

Ole Miss (45 points) won the team event followed by Florida State (92), Tennessee (108), Belmont (139) and Georgia Tech (161) to round out the top five.

The top individual runner was Alfred Chelanga of Alabama who posted a time of 30:59.2.
