SAVANNAH, Ga. –The Savannah State University women's basketball team will open its 2018-19 season on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m. against Wesleyan College in Tiger Arena.
 
Head Coach Cedric Baker enters his 16^th season at the helm of the women's basketball program at Savannah State and enters his 25^th year as head coach in his career.
 
The Lady Tigers hosted an exhibition contest against Allen University and defeated the Yellow Jackets 74-50. Alexxus Sowell led the way as she scored 14 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and collected four blocks.
 
The game also gave fans a chance to get a view some of the newcomers as freshman Myasia Jones led the team in scoring with 16 points and freshman Azhana Maxwell contributed by adding ten points.
 
Wesleyan College began their 2018-19 season on Saturday, Nov. 3 as they traveled to Pensacola Christian College and were defeated by the Eagles 74-36.
