SAVANNAH, Ga. – Senior
Tiyonda Davis of the Savannah State University women's basketball team was named to the BOXTOROW Second Team All-American.
This season, Davis set the single season school record in the Division I era with 106 blocks, 15 more than second place, and finished second in school history in a single season with 267 rebounds. Davis also averaged 8.4 points per game, 9.2 rebounds per game, 3.7 blocks per game and shot 48.0 (97-for-202) percent this season in 29 games.
Davis ranked third in the conference in rebounding, second in field goal percentage, second in blocked shots per game and 28
th in scoring.
In conference play, Davis averaged 9.6 points per game, 10.1 rebounds per game, 4.5 blocks per game, while shooting 52.7 (58-for-110). Davis ranked first in blocked shots per game, second in rebounding, second in field goal percentage and 24
th in scoring.
The Athens, Ga., native was named to the All-Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Second Team and was named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week six times this season, the most by any player in the conference this season, and was named the MEAC Player of the Week twice.
In her career, Davis set the school record with 306 blocks, more than 50 blocks than second place, and with 985 rebounds, more than 300 rebounds than second place. Davis ranks third in school history with 397 career made field goals and seventh with 922 career points.
