SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (1-36, 1-11 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) hosts South Carolina State University (2-35, 2-9 MEAC) in season finale this weekend with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon for Senior Day at Lady Tiger Softball Field.
Sophomore third baseman
Cortni Jones leads the team with a .489 (23-for-47) batting average, while senior right fielder
Alexis Singleton is batting .330 (37-for-112).
On the mound, senior pitcher
Amanda McDowell has an 8.35 ERA with eight complete games and 83 strikeouts, while sophomore
Faith Dickerson has a 9.53 ERA with four complete games and 19 strikeouts.
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .232 with 37 extra base hits and 86 runs scored, while on the mound, SSU has a 9.77 ERA with 13 complete games and 108 strikeouts.
South Carolina State has lost the last 12 games with the last win against North Carolina A&T State University on March 25 in a doubleheader sweep. The Bulldogs are led by Unique Whitehurst with a .293 (27-for-92) batting average and Jada Richardson with a .286 batting average.
On the mound, Jada Lake has a 9.78 ERA with five complete games and 30 strikeouts, while Whitney Gaylor has a 10.36 ERA with four complete games and 10 strikeouts.
As a team, the Bulldogs are batting .213 with 34 extra base hits and 90 runs scored, while on the mound, SCSU has a 9.97 ERA with 11 complete games and 52 strikeouts.
