SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University men's golf team is competing at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship at the Crosswinds Golf Club in Savannah starting Wednesday and finishing up the three day championship Friday.
The Tigers hosted the event last season with Augusta University winning the event with a 30-under par 834 and Robin Petersson of Augusta won the individual medalist with an 11-under par 205, while Savannah State finished fourth.
This season, six other teams are competing in the championship with Augusta, Bethune-Cookman University, Florida A&M University, Hampton University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore and North Carolina Central University.
The last time out, Savannah State won the 10
th annual Morehouse Classic with a four-over par 288 and sophomore
Adam Walden won the individual medalist with a three-under par 68 at the West Pines Golf Club in Douglasville, Ga.
The Crosswinds Golf Course is 6,748 yards long and it features five par threes and five par fives for a 72-par course.
