GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Savannah State University men's track team set the school record in the distance medley relay and the sprint medley relay at the Pepsi Florida Relays.

Abbas Abbkar finished eighth in the event with a time of 10:26.94 beating the previous school record of 10:33.77 set earlier this season by Abbkar, Houser-Cross, sophomore
Elijah West and Pack with a time of 10:33.77 at the Savannah State Relays on March 6.

Morgan Ellis-Foster and Abbkar finished fifth in the event with a time of 3:21.58 to beat the previous school record of 3:23.18 set by Darrius Baker, Tyrone McCoy, Chazwyn Price and Eric Plump on April 1, 2011 at the Florida Relays.
Other men's track results include Abbkar's 46
th place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.99, while Ellis-Foster finished 23
rd in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.93. Savannah State's 4x100-meter relay team of freshman

Malik Franklin and Brown finished 24
th with a time of 41.24, while the 4x200-meter relay team of Leggett, Brown, junior
Donterious Copeland and Franklin finished 14
th with a time of 1:25.36.
The women's track team nearly missed setting a school-record in the 4x200-meter relay race. Sophomore Tyneshia Quarterman, freshman

Cayla Williams and freshman Iycis Hammond finished 25
th with a time of 1:38.33, 0.10 from setting the school record of 1:38.33.
Other women's track results include Quarterman's 39
th place finish in the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.23, while Hammond finished 46
th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:04.72. Savannah State's 4x100-meter relay team of Morgan, Quarterman, Hammond and Williams finished 44
th with a time of 47.51, while the 4x400-meter relay team of Morgan, Williams, Quarterman and Hammond finished 41
st with a time of 3:57.66.
Sophomore
LaRon James of the men's field team finished fifth in the long jump with a jump of 7.20 meters (23-7.50).
The men's and women's track and field teams return to action with the UNF Invite Saturday in Jacksonville, Fla., hosted by the University of North Florida.
