SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (0-24, 0-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) finishes a season-high eight game homestand with a three-game series against North Carolina Central University (5-22, 0-3 MEAC) this weekend at Lady Tiger Softball Field.
 
The Lady Tigers play a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game Sunday at noon.
 
Sophomore third baseman Cortni Jones returns this weekend and leads the team with a .571 (12-for-21) batting average, while senior right fielder Alexis Singleton is batting .389 (28-for-72).  
 
On the mound, senior pitcher Amanda McDowell leads the Lady Tigers with a 13.01 ERA with four complete games and 46 strikeouts, while sophomore pitcher Faith Dickerson has a 13.33 ERA with three complete games and 18 strikeouts.
 
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .237 with 26 extra bases hits and 53 runs scored, while on the mound, SSU has a 14.14 ERA with seven complete games and 70 strikeouts.
 
NCCU has lost the last five games with the last wins coming in a doubleheader sweep of University of Maryland Eastern Shore on March 23.  The Eagles are led by Miriam Duen with a .297 batting average, while Dominique Wilson has a .246 average.
 
On the mound, Wilson has a 4.48 ERA with eight complete games and 59 strikeouts, while Lauren Sitterson has a 6.53 ERA with five complete games and 16 strikeouts.
 
As a team, the Eagles are hitting .194 with 27 extra base hits and scored 44 runs, while on the mound, NCCU has a 5.87 ERA with 15 complete games and 84 strikeouts.
 
The Lady Tigers take a week off before traveling to Tallahassee, Fla., for a three-game series with Florida A&M University (8-23, 3-0 MEAC) from April 14-15.  The two teams play a doubleheader Friday starting at 1 p.m. and a single game Saturday at noon.
