SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (0-21) continues an eight-game homestand with the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opener this weekend against Bethune-Cookman University (9-23) this weekend at the Lady Tiger Softball Field.
 
The Lady Tigers face the Wildcats with a doubleheader Saturday starting at 1:30 p.m. and plays a single game Sunday at noon.
 
Senior right fielder Alexis Singleton has a .422 (27-for-64) batting average and is batting .824 (14-for-17) with three runs scored, two triples and four RBIs over the last five games, while junior second baseman Brianna Harris has a .293 (17-for-58) batting average.
 
On the mound, sophomore pitcher Faith Dickerson leads the team with a 12.86 ERA with 15 strikeouts, while senior pitcher Amanda McDowell has a 13.24 ERA with 40 strikeouts.
 
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .245 with 25 extra base hits and 49 runs scored.  On the mound, SSU has a 14.19 ERA with seven complete games and 61 strikeouts.
 
B-CU went 2-3 last weekend in Clearwater, Fla.  The Wildcats are led by Ryan Jackson, who has been named the MEAC Player of the Week the last two weeks, with a .456 batting average, while Mariah Davis is batting .386.
 
On the mound, Sabrina Anguiano leads the team with a 4.53 ERA and has a 4-6 record with 31 strikeouts, while Mariah Estrada has a 3-4 record with an ERA of 5.09 and 12 strikeouts.
 
As a team, the Wildcats are hitting .282 with 44 extra base hits and 138 runs.  On the mound, B-CU has a 6.12 ERA with seven complete games and 83 strikeouts.
 
The Lady Tigers finish the homestand with a three-game series against North Carolina Central University next weekend.  SSU plays a doubleheader Saturday, April 1 at 1 and 3 p.m. and a single game Sunday, April 2 at noon at Lady Tiger Softball Field.
