CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Savannah State University women's tennis (0-2) falls to Western Carolina University (2-2) 7-0 Friday at the Catamount Athletic Complex.
 
Western Carolina started the match winning at the No. 3 doubles by default with the Lady Tigers only have five student-athletes and won the doubles point after WCU's doubles team of Lauren McCall and Jordan Strickland defeated SSU's doubles duo of senior Jennyfer Vivas and junior Rachida El Kateb 6-1.  WCU's doubles duo of Savannah Taranto and Alexa Webb defeated SSU's doubles team of senior Sandy Lochu and freshman Lili-Morgan Pastore 6-2.
 
WCU went up 2-0 after winning at the No. 6 singles position as Elizabeth Ansari won by default and went up 3-0 after El Kateb fell to Strickland 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 2 singles position. 
 
The Catamount went up 4-0 after Madison Riley defeated senior Bria Burrows 6-0, 6-1 at the No. 5 singles position and went up 5-0 after Pastore fell to Webb 6-4, 6-1 at the No. 3 singles position.
 
Vivas fell to McCall 6-2, 7-5 at the No. 4 singles position as WCU takes a 6-0 lead and won the final match after Taranto defeated Lochu 6-3, 7-5 at the No. 1 singles position.
 
The Lady Tigers travel to South Carolina for two matches Saturday with Wofford College at 10:30 a.m. in Spartanburg and faces Presbyterian College at 3 p.m. in Clinton.
