SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University softball team (0-12) travels to Macon, Ga., for the Black and Orange Challenge Saturday and Sunday.
 
The Lady Tigers face Marist College (2-2) at 12:15 p.m. and host Mercer University (4-6) at 4:45 p.m. Saturday and faces the same two teams Sunday with Marist at 12:15 p.m. and Mercer at 4:45 p.m.
 
Sophomore third baseman Cortni Jones leads the Lady Tigers with a .571 (12-for-21) batting average, while senior left fielder Chasney Jenkins has a .273 (9-for-33) batting average and freshman first baseman Ashleigh Dennis has a .261 (6-for-23) batting average.  On the mound, senior pitcher Amanda McDowell has a 12.74 ERA with 19 strikeouts.
 
As a team, the Lady Tigers are hitting .266 with 15 extra bases hits and 25 runs scored.  On the mound, SSU has a 14.44 ERA with four complete games and 31 strikeouts. 
 
All of Marist's four games has come against Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference opponents splitting the doubleheader against Norfolk State and defeated Coppin State (6-3) and fell to Morgan State (4-2).  The Red Foxes are led by Casey Page and Kourtney Paul each with a .375 (3-for-8) batting average, while Kallen Leeseberg has an 0-1 record with a 0.00 ERA and Meg Beiermeister has a 1-0 record with a 2.21 ERA.
 
As a team, Marist is hitting .245 with 11 extra base hits and 27 runs scored.  On the mound, MC has a 2.42 ERA with 34 strikeouts.
 
After going 4-2 to open the season, Mercer has lost the last four games.  The Bears are led by Meghan Rud with a .517 (15-for-29) batting average and Quirisa Mauga with a .385 (10-for-26) batting average.  On the mound, Stella Preston has a 2-1 record with a 1.84 ERA, while Jill McElderry has a 1-2 record with a 3.50 ERA.
 
As a team, Mercer is batting .277 with 17 extra base hits and 33 runs scored.  On the mound, the Bears has posted a 4.42 ERA with four complete games and 35 strikeouts. 

The Lady Tigers travel to Auburn, Ala., for the Wilson/DeMarini Classic from March 3-5.  Savannah State faces College of Charleston at 10 a.m. and Liberty University at 12:30 p.m. Friday with single games on Saturday and Sunday with host Auburn University Saturday at 3:30 p.m. and Texas State University at 10:30 a.m.
