SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University men's and women's track and field teams opens the 2017 outdoor season with the Savannah State Eyeopener at Theodore A. Wright Stadium starting at 11 a.m. Saturday.
 
Stetson University and Mercer University are the only two other Division I team competing with SSU, while Fort Valley State University, Voorhees College, Armstrong State University, University of South Carolina Beaufort, Clafin University, Edward Waters College, Savannah College of Arts & Design and Albany State University will also be competing this weekend.
 
Field events start at 11 a.m. with the hammer throw, long jump, high jump and discus, while the track events start also start at 11 a.m. with the men's 110-meter hurdles.
 
Last season, Savannah State broke two school records at the event and recorded 35 top-10 finishes, including 11 wins. 
 
SSU remains at home for the next meet with the Savannah State Relays on Saturday, March 4 all day at Theodore A. Wright Stadium.
