SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's basketball team begins the 2017-18 season with an exhibition game against Wesleyan College Thursday in Tiger Arena as part of Tiger Week.
This season's team is completely different from last year as the Lady Tigers lost eight seniors. This season, Savannah State welcomes 11 newcomers, including nine freshmen, and returns four letterwinners.
Seniors guard
Lauryn Fields and center
Reynetta Phillips return for their final season, while junior guard
Jacqueline Anderson and sophomore
Praise Russell are the four returning letterwinners.
Savannah State welcomes two junior transfers of
Donasja Scott from Baltimore Community College and Kaylee Allen from Chicago State University.

Le'Terria Mathis from Warner Robins, Ga., guard
Heniaya Moton from Washington, D.C., guard
Teyah Johnson from Seale, Ala., forward,
Jalea Gray from Lawrenceville, Ga., guard
Nadia Farmer from Columbus, Ohio, guard
Jazmine Barlett from Augusta, Ga., center
Sabree Gallishaw from Atlanta, Ga., center
Alexxus Sowell, from Lancaster, S.C., and forward
Kayla Vance from Phenix City, Ala.
Head coach
Cedric Baker enters his 15
th season at the helm of the women's basketball program at SSU and enters his 24
th year as head coach in his career.
The Lady Tigers face Paine College Tuesday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena for the final exhibition game of the season before hosting LaGrange College Friday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. in Tiger Arena for Savannah State's season and home opener.
