SAVANNAH, Ga. – Savannah State University women's basketball team (4-13, 2-3 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) looks to continue a two-game winning streak by starting a two-game homestand with Morgan State University (2-15, 0-4 MEAC) Saturday at 4 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers defeated South Carolina State 60-49 Monday night in Orangeburg, S.C., for their second consecutive win.  Senior guard Rhianna Warren led SSU with 16 points, while senior guard Kenyata Hendrix added her first double-double of her career with 10 points and a career-high 10 rebounds.  Senior forward Jeremica Edwards added eight rebounds and six points, while senior center Tiyonda Davis, who was named the MEAC Co-Defensive Player of the Week Monday, added seven rebounds, seven points and four blocks. 
 
Hendrix leads the team with 11.4 points per game, while graduate student guard Lauren "Gaby" Moss is averaging 10.1 points per game.  Davis leads the team with 7.9 rebounds per game and with 3.4 blocks per game, and averages 5.9 points per game, while Edwards is averaging 6.5 rebounds per game and 5.2 points per game.
 
Davis ranks sixth in the MEAC in rebounds per game (7.9) and is second in blocks per game (3.4), which ranks sixth in the NCAA and 10th in the country with 51 blocks.  In her career, the Athens, Ga., native holds the school record in the Division I era with 250 career blocks and with 844 career rebounds.  She also ranks eighth with 772 career points and sixth with 335 career made field goals.  Davis' 55 blocks this season ranks seventh in school history in the a single season, three behind sixth place. 
 
Hendrix holds the school record in the Division I era with 170 career made 3-pointers and is the third Lady Tiger to record 1,000-plus points with 1,076, which ranks second in school history, and ranks third with 376 made field goals. 
 
Morgan State is still looking for its first conference win of the season with losses to Norfolk State University (56-47), at Bethune-Cookman University (50-48), at Florida A&M University (51-48) and North Carolina A&T State University (67-62).  The Bears has lost the last nine games with the last win at UMBC 69-61 on Dec. 7.
 
The Bears are led by Braennan Frarrar with 14.0 points per game and averages 3.1 rebounds per game, while Tykyrah Williams averages 9.6 points per game and 5.4 rebounds per game and Zuri White averages 5.4 rebounds per game and 4.1 points per game.
 
The Lady Tigers finish the homestand with Delaware State University (1-15, 0-4 MEAC) Monday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
