CHARLESTON, S.C. - Savannah State University opens its 2016 Cross Country season by participating in the 36
th annual Will Wilson Citadel Invitational in Charleston, S.C., at James Island County Park on Saturday, Sept 24.
On the women's side, SSU returns junior
Miara Elmore a native of Columbus, Ga., and sophomore
Tyneshia Quarterman from Columbus, Ga.
Quarterman had her best finish in 2015 at the South Carolina Challenge in Columbia, S.C. crossing the finish line in 41
st place with a time of 28:44.72.While Elmore had her best finish in 2015 at the MEAC Championship in Smyrna, Del., with a 55
th place finish in the 5k race with a time of 21:57.30.
The newcomers this season include:
Danielle Derricho (Fr., Decatur, Ga.);
Destiny Hall (So., Hinesville, Ga.);
Brenda Johnson (Fr., Petersburg, Va.);
Ravyn Mike (Jr., Sanford, Fla.).
For the men, SSU returns juniors
Michael Smith from Atlanta, Ga.,
Kenneth Nealy a native of Lilburn, Ga., and
Randolph Barratt from Newton, Ga.
Leading the men will be Smith who had his best performance in 2015 at MEAC Championship in Dover, Del. with a 38
th place finish and a time of 29:39.70.
