SAVANNAH, Ga. – Kevin Metzger leads the Savannah State University men's golf team with a one-over par 74, which is tied for seventh, after the first day at the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Championship at Crosswinds Golf Course as the Tigers are fourth in the team standings with a 19-over par 307 Thursday.
Metzger shot a one-over par 37 on the front nine and an even-par 36 on the back nine, while Adam Walden scored a five-over par 77 to finish in a tie for 18
th place.
Riley Keagle finished third on the team with a six-over par 78 to finish 21
st, while Zach Otto finished tied for 22
nd with a seven-over par 79.
Augusta University leads the championship with a team-score four-under par 284, while Bethune-Cookman University is second with a one-under par 287 and Florida A&M University is third with an 11-over par 299.
Individually, three players finished under par with Robin Petersson and Jake Marriott of Augusta leads the championship with a three-under par 69, while Leon Fricker of B-CU finished third with a two-under par 70.
The second round starts Friday at 8 a.m. with the final round concluding on Saturday at 8 a.m.
