CONWAY, S.C. – Connor Christian of the Savannah State University men's field team broke the school's shot put record with a throw of 14.80 meters (49-6.75) to finish 12^th at the Alan Connie Shamrock Invitational.
 
The previous record was held by Christian, who recorded a 13.69-meter (44-11.0) throw last season at the UNF Spring Break Invite last March.
 
On the men's track side, the Tigers recorded nine top-15 finish as Nigel Brown finished sixth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.55, while Kevin Todd Woodring finished 11^th in the 400-meter run with a time of 48.29, Michael Smith finished 13^th in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:02.78, Morgan Ellis-Foster finished 12^th in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 54.40 and Brandon Davis finished 14^th with a time of 54.65.
 
Savannah State's 4x100-meter relay team of Antwuan Poole, Justin Leggett, Brown and Woodring finished ninth with a time of 41.77, while the 4x200-meter relay team of Leggett, Malik Franklin, Ellis-Foster and Brown finished sixth with a time of 1:26.92 and the 4x400-meter relay team of Woodring, Ellis-Foster, Davis and Christian finished fifth with a time of 3:15.46.
 
Other than Christian's 12^th place finish in the shot put, Franklin was the only other men's field to record a top-15 finish with a fifth place in the triple jump with a distance of 14.79 meters (48-6.25).
 
On the women's track side, the Lady Tigers recorded three top-15 finishes.  Asia Stinson qualified for the final round in the 100-meters with a preliminary time of 11.97 to place eight and finished seventh in the final round with a time of 12.15. 
 
Savannah State's 4x100-meter relay team of Stinson, Kiana Robinson, Tyneshia Quarterman and Jahmee Reeves finished eight with a time of 47.10, while the 4x200-meter relay team of Robinson, Reeves, Quarterman and Stinson finished eight with a time of 1:39.64.
 
On the women's field side, the Lady Tigers recorded two top-six finishes in the pole vault.  Alysia Potts led the way with a distance of 3.05 meters (10-0) and Kourtney Sizemore finished sixth with a distance of 2.90 meters (9-6.25).
 
Other men's track results include, Leggett finishing 18^th in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.81, Brown finished 24^th with a time of 10.90 and Poole finished 28^th with a time of 10.93.  Poole finished 20^th in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.24, while Smith finished 30^th in the mile with a time of 4:39.47.
 
Other men's field results include, Franklin's 17^th place finish in the long jump with a jump of 6.82 meters (22-4.5), Derrick Akins' 20^th finish in the discus with a throw of 42.04 meters (137-11) and Christian's 22^nd place finish with a throw of 40.97 meters (134-5).
 
Other women's track results include, Quarterman's 24^th place in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.35, Stinson's 26^th place finish with a time of 25.40 and Robinson's 38^th place finish with a time of 25.76.  Reeves finished 17^th in the 400-meter run with a time of 56.33, while Savannah State's 4x400-meter relay team of Reeves, Robinson, Quarterman and Miara Elmore finished 15^th with a time of 3:05.47.
 
Other women's field results include, Elmore's 14^th finish in the long jump with a distance of 4.97 meters (16-3.75) and finished 22^nd in the triple jump with a jump of 10.88 meters (35-8.5).
