SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (6-15, 3-7 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) finishes a two-game homestand against Coppin State 7-13, 4-4 MEAC) Monday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
 
Last season, the Lady Tigers won the only regular season matchup in overtime 63-56 in Baltimore, Md., on Feb. 9 and also defeated the Lady Eagles 66-52 on March 11 in the quarterfinals of the MEAC Tournament in Norfolk, Va.
 
After 21 games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .360 (406-for-1128) from the floor, including shooting .284 (83-for-292) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 51.0 points per game, 36.8 rebounds per game and have recorded 203 assists, 181 steals and 89 blocks.  SSU is holding opponents to a .363 field goal percentage, which ranks first in the MEAC and 43rd in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and ranks fourth in the MEAC averaging 4.2 blocks per game, which ranks 89th in the NCAA. 
 
The Lady Tigers also ranks 107th in the NCAA with 89 blocked shots, which ranks fourth in the MEAC, 108th in the NCAA holding opponents to 60.6 points per game, which ranks fourth in the MEAC.
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the team with 12.3 points per game, which ranks 10th in the MEAC.  Over the last six games, Hendrix is averaging 17.2 points per game on 37-for-92 (.402) shooting, including shooting 17-for-43 (.395) from the 3-point line, while averaging 3.7 rebounds per game and 2.2 assists per game.
 
The Carrollton, Ga., native has made 123 career 3-point field goals, which ranks third in school history in the Division I era and needs three made field goals to move into second place.  The 42 made 3-point field goals this season ranks tied for third in school history for a single season and need seven made field goals to move into second place.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis leads the team with 8.0 rebounds per game, which ranks tied for fifth in the MEAC and with 2.9 blocks per game, which ranks second in the MEAC and 18th in the NCAA.  Davis has recorded 61 blocks, which ranks second in the conference and 17th in the NCAA and is averaging 6.3 points per game.
 
The Athens, Ga., native ranks second in school history with 181 career blocks and needs 43 blocked shots to move into first place and the 61 blocks this season, ranks fifth in school history for a singles season and needs two blocked shots to move into fourth place.  Davis also ranks second in school history with 648 career rebounds and needs 37 rebounds to move into first place.
 
Over the last eight games, Davis is averaging 9.9 points per game on 34-for-55 (.618) shooting, 10.8 rebounds per game and 3.9 blocks per game. 
 
Junior forward Jeremica Edwards is averaging 6.4 points per game, shooting .449 (53-for-118) and 3.7 rebounds per game.  Over the last 10 games, the New Orleans, La., native is averaging 6.6 points per game on 30-for-61 (.492) shooting with 4.3 rebounds per game. 
 
In conference play, Hendrix is leading the team with 14.1 points per game, which ranks seventh in the MEAC and averaging 3.7 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game, while Davis is leading the team with 9.9 rebounds per game, which ranks fourth in the MEAC, and with 3.5 blocks per game, which ranks third in the conference and is averaging 8.3 points per game on 36-for-61 (.590) shooting, which ranks first in the conference.
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to Morgan State 66-60 in triple overtime in Tiger Arena Saturday.  Davis led the team with a career-high 21 rebounds and added 10 points for her second consecutive double-double and three blocks, while Hendrix led SSU with 23 points and added five rebounds.  Junior forward Caprisha Treadwell added eight points and nine rebounds.
 
Coppin State is 0-2 on its current roadstand with losses to Morgan State (72-51) and South Carolina State (67-63). Keena Samuels leads the Lady Eagles with 11.8 points per game, while Janelle Lane is averaging 11.3 points per game and 4.7 rebounds per game.  Jordan Swails is leading the team with 6.4 rebounds per game and is averaging 8.6 points per game.
 
As a team, the Lady Eagles are shooting 466-for-1217 (.383) overall and 31-for-142 (.218) from the 3-point line and is averaging 60.5 points per game and 38.3 rebounds per game with 244 assists, 55 blocks and 185 steals. 
 
The Lady Tigers start a two-game roadstand on Saturday traveling to Orangeburg, S.C., to face South Carolina State (9-11, 5-5 MEAC) at 2 p.m.
