SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (6-14, 3-6 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) starts a two-game homestand with Morgan State University (12-9, 6-2 MEAC) Saturday at 4 p.m. in Tiger Arena for Homecoming 2.0.
 
Last season, the Lady Tigers defeated Morgan State 72-58 on Feb. 7 in Baltimore, Md., in the only matchup of the season.
 
After 20 games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .362 (383-for-1057) from the floor, including shooting .286 (78-for-273) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 50.5 points per game, 35.5 rebounds per game and have recorded 191 assists, 175 steals and 82 blocks.  SSU is holding opponents to a .370 field goal percentage, which ranks second in the MEAC and 64th in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and ranks fourth in the MEAC averaging 4.1 blocks per game, which ranks 102nd in the NCAA. 
 
The Lady Tigers also ranks 102nd in the NCAA holding opponents to 60.3 points per game, which ranks fourth in the MEAC and ranks 106th in the NCAA averaging 8.8 steals per game, which ranks fourth in the MEAC.
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the team with 11.8 points per game, which ranks 11th in the MEAC.  Over the last five games, Hendrix is averaging 16.0 points per game on 30-for-75 (.400) shooting, including shooting 13-for-33 (.394) from the 3-point line, while averaging 3.4 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game.
 
The Carrollton, Ga., native has made 119 career 3-point field goals, which ranks third in school history in the Division I era and needs six made field goals to move into second place.  The 38 made 3-point field goals this season ranks sixth in school history for a single season and need four made field goals to move into fifth place.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game, which ranks tied for ninth in the MEAC and with 2.9 blocks per game, which ranks tied for second in the MEAC and 17th in the NCAA.  Davis has recorded 58 blocks, which ranks second in the conference and 19th in the NCAA and is averaging 6.2 points per game.
 
The Athens, Ga., native tied a career-high with seven blocked shots at Bethune-Cookman on Tuesday to give her 178 career blocks, which moved her into second place in school history and needs 46 blocked shots to move into first place.  The 58 blocked shots this season ranks fifth in school history for a single season and needs five blocked shots to move into fourth place.
 
Over the last seven games, Davis is averaging 9.9 points per game on 30-for-48 (.625) shooting, 9.3 rebounds per game, 4.0 blocks per game and 1.3 assists per game. 
 
Junior forward Jeremica Edwards is averaging 6.7 points per game, shooting .449 (53-for-118) and 3.8 rebounds per game.  Over the last nine games, the New Orleans, La., native is averaging 7.3 points per game on 30-for-61 (.492) shooting with 4.7 rebounds per game. 
 
In conference play, Hendrix is leading the team with 13.1 points per game, which ranks ninth in the MEAC and averaging 3.6 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game, while Davis is leading the team with 8.7 rebounds per game, which ranks sixth in the MEAC, and with 3.6 blocks per game, which ranks third in the conference and is averaging 8.1 points per game on 32-for-54 (.593) shooting, which ranks first in the conference.
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to Bethune-Cookman 50-44 Tuesday night.  The game was tied heading into the final quarter, but the Wildcats scored the first 12 points of the quarter to capture a 12-point lead.  The Lady Tigers battled back to within three points, 47-44, with 19 second left, but B-CU scored the final three points on free throws to capture the six-point win.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis and junior guard Rhianna Warren led SSU with 10 points each, while Davis also led the team with 10 rebounds and tied a career-high with seven blocks and shot 5-for-8.  Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix added nine points and three rebounds, while sophomore guard Lauryn Fields added seven points on 2-for-4 shooting.
 
Morgan Sate has won its last two games and five of the last six games.  The only two conference losses were to Hampton (65-51) and at Bethune-Cookman (63-48).  Braennah Farrar leads the Lady Bears with 14.6 points per game and averages 3.7 rebounds per game, while Tykyrah Williams is averaging 9.5 points per game and 4.6 rebounds per game.  Zuri White leads the team with 7.4 rebounds per game and is averaging 5.0 points per game and Lexus Spears is averaging 8.7 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game.
 
As a team, the Lady Bears are shooting 386-for-1233 (.313) overall and 72-for-310 (.232) from the 3-point line and is averaging 54.5 points per game and 38.8 rebounds per game with 171 assists, 30 blocks and 170 steals. 
 
The Lady Tigers finish the homestand against Coppin State (7-12, 4-3 MEAC) Monday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena before heading on the road for a two-game homestand.
