SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (9-16, 6-8 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) travels to Durham, N.C., to face North Carolina Central University (11-13, 7-7 MEAC) at 5:30 p.m. in McDougald-McLendon Arena for the final regular season road game.
 
This season, the two teams have already met on the hardwood on Jan. 11 in Tiger Arena, where the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Eagles 57-39.  Junior center Tiyonda Davis led SSU with 12 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks on 6-for-7 shooting, while junior guard Chelsea Frazier added 10 points.
 
For the Lady Eagles, Morgan Jones led the team with 11 points, while Kristin Askew added 10 points and Tisha Dixon added seven rebounds and seven points in the first meeting.
 
After 25 games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .364 (496-for-1362) from the floor, including shooting .290 (101-for-348) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 52.0 points per game, 37.7 rebounds per game and have recorded 249 assists, 206 steals and 107 blocks.  SSU is holding opponents to a .360 field goal percentage, which ranks first in the MEAC and 30th in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, ranks third in the MEAC averaging 4.3 blocks per game, which ranks 78th in the NCAA and ranks third in the MEAC with 107 blocks, which ranks 108th in the NCAA.
 
The Lady Tigers also ranks 80th in the NCAA in holding opponents to a 59.4 points per game scoring average, which ranks fourth in the MEAC and 104th in the NCAA in turnovers forced with 17.40, which ranks sixth in the MEAC.
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the team with 12.4 points per game, which ranks eight in the MEAC.  Over the last 10 games, Hendrix is averaging 15.3 points per game on 49-for-134 (.366) shooting, including shooting 23-for-66 (.348) from the 3-point line, while averaging 3.6 rebounds per game and 2.3 assists per game.
 
The Carrollton, Ga., native has made 298 career field goals, which ranks her in seventh place in school history in the Division I era and needs 23 made field goals to move into sixth place.  Hendrix ranks second in school history with 133 made 3-pointers in her career and needs 21 made 3-point field goals to move into first place and ranks second with 52 3-pointers made in a single season and needs four made field goals to move into first place.  Hendrix also ranks seventh in school history with 841 career points and needs 12 points to move into sixth place.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis leads the team with 8.5 rebounds per game, which ranks fifth in the MEAC and with 2.76 blocks per game, which ranks second in the MEAC and 20th in the NCAA.  Davis has recorded 69 blocks, which ranks second in the conference and 25th in the NCAA and is averaging 6.5 points per game.
 
The Athens, Ga., native recorded 13 rebounds to record 692 career boards to set a school-record and ranks second in school history with 189 career blocks and needs 35 blocked shots to move into first place.  The 69 blocks this season, ranks third most in school history in a single season and needs five blocked shots to move into second place.
 
Davis also ranks ninth in made field goals with 292 and needs four made field goals to move into eighth place and needs 21 points to crack into the top-10 in scoring.  Davis has recorded 656 career points.
 
Over the last 12 games, Davis is averaging 9.3 points per game on 49-for-82 (.598) shooting with 10.8 rebounds per game and 3.3 blocks per game. 
 
Junior forward Jeremica Edwards averages 6.6 points per game on 66-for-150 (.440) shooting from the floor with 4.2 rebounds per game, while junior guard Rhianna Warren adds 6.1 points per game on 51-for-161 (.317) from the floor, including 21-for-77 (.273) from the 3-point line with 2.9 rebounds per game.
 
In conference play, Hendrix is leading the team with 13.9 points per game, which ranks sixth in the MEAC and averaging 3.8 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game, while Davis is leading the team with 10.2 rebounds per game, which leads the MEAC, and with 3.1 blocks per game, which ranks third in the conference and is averaging 9.0 points per game on 51-for-88 (.580) shooting, which ranks leads the MEAC.
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers defeated South Carolina State 62-39 in a game that SSU never trailed in.  Hendrix led the team with a game-high 18 points on 6-for-10 shooting from the floor, including shooting 4-for-6 from the 3-point line, while junior guard Taylor-Ashley Shaw added a career-high 11 points on 4-for-9 shooting from the floor with four rebounds.  Davis added 13 rebounds, four blocks and seven points on 2-for-4 shooting.   
 
N.C. Central has lost the last 10 conference games with the last conference win on Jan. 16 against Norfolk Stat, 63-62.  Dixon leads the team with 10.4 points per game and 7.8 rebounds per game, while Jones is averaging 10.1 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game and Askew added 7.1 points per game.
 
As a team, the Lady Eagles are shooting 461-for-1403 (.329) overall and 79-for-290 (.272) from the 3-point line and is averaging 50.8 points per game and 39.4 rebounds per game with 226 assists, 46 blocks and 169 steals.
 
The Lady Tigers return home for the final regular game of the season against Florida A&M (15-13, 9-6 MEAC) before the MEAC Tournament starting on Monday, March 7 in Norfolk, Va.
