SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (6-13, 3-5 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) finishes its four-game raodstand traveling to Florida to face Bethune-Cookman University (12-9, 6-2 MEAC) in Daytona Beach Tuesday at 6 p.m.
 
Last season, the Lady Tigers fell to Bethune-Cookman 59-52 in Daytona Beach, Fla., on Dec. 6 to begin MEAC play in the only matchup of the season.
 
After 19 games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .363 (366-for-1009) from the floor, including shooting .281 (72-for-256) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 50.8 points per game, 35.6 rebounds per game and have recorded 183 assists, 172 steals and 73 blocks.  SSU is averaging 9.1 steals per game, which ranks third in the MEAC and 86th in the NCAA and is holding opponents to a .371 field goal percentage, which ranks second in the MEAC and 74th in the NCAA.
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the team with 11.9 points per game, which ranks 10th in the MEAC.  Over the last four games, Hendrix is averaging 17.8 points per game on 27-for-63 (.429) shooting, including shooting 10-for-25 (.400) from the 3-point line, while averaging 3.5 rebounds per game and 2.0 assists per game.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis leads the team with 7.2 rebounds per game, which ranks 10th in the MEAC and with 2.6 blocks per game, which ranks second in the MEAC and 26th in the NCAA.  Davis has recorded 51 blocks, which ranks second in the conference and 26th in the NCAA and is averaging 5.9 points per game.
 
The Athens, Ga., native recorded 10 rebounds at North Carolina A&T State Saturday to give her 617 career rebounds, which ranks her second in school history in the Division I era.  Davis has recorded 171 career blocks and needs seven blocks to move into second place in school history.
 
Over the last six games, Davis is averaging 9.8 points per game on 25-for-40 (.625) shooting, 9.2 rebounds per game, 3.5 blocks per game and 1.5 assists per game.
 
Junior forward Jeremica Edwards is averaging 6.9 points per game, shooting .451 (51-for-113), which ranks 10th in the MEAC, and 3.7 rebounds per game.  Over the last eight games, the New Orleans, La., native is averaging 7.8 points per game on 28-for-56 (.500) shooting with 4.5 rebounds per game. 
 
In conference play, Hendrix is leading the team with 13.6 points per game, which ranks ninth in the MEAC and averaging 3.6 rebounds per game and 2.4 assists per game, while Davis is leading the team with 8.5 rebounds per game, which ranks sixth in the MEAC, and with 3.1 blocks per game, which ranks third in the conference and is averaging 7.9 points per game on 27-for-46 (.587) shooting, which ranks third in the conference.
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to N.C. A&T 60-31 Saturday in Greensboro, N.C.  Junior guard Taylor-Ashley Shaw led SSU with nine points, while Davis led with 10 rebounds and with four blocks.  Edwards, Hendrix and sophomore guard Kilah Nixon each added four points, while junior guard Rhianna Warren and sophomore forward Jada Young each added four rebounds.
 
Bethune-Cookman has won its last two games and five of its last six games.  B-CU's only conference losses are at Maryland Eastern Shore (76-71 in 2OT) and at Hampton (60-45).  Kendra Cooper leads the team with 15.3 points per game, while Kailyn Williams leads the team with 9.3 rebounds per game and is averaging 11.7 points per game.  Williams was announced the MEAC Defensive Player of the Week on Monday and has won the award the last three weeks.  Taylor Houston is averaging 11.1 points per game and 6.1 rebounds per game.
 
As a team, the Wildcats are shooting 426-for-1140 (.407) overall and 122-for-352 (.347) from the 3-point line and is averaging 62.5 points per game and 39.0 rebounds per game with 271 assists, 100 blocks and 161 steals. 
 
The Lady Tigers start a two-game homestand with Morgan State Saturday at 4 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
