SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (3-9, 0-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) continues its season-high five-game homestand with the MEAC home opener against North Carolina A&T State (5-8, 1-1 MEAC), who was predicted to win the MEAC this season, on Saturday at 4 p.m. in Tiger Arena.  The Lady Tigers are 3-1 in their MEAC home opener, including winning the last three.
 
Last season, the Lady Tigers split the two-game regular season series with both teams winning on the road.  SSU defeated the Aggies 59-56 in Greensboro on Jan. 10, but NCAT defeated SSU 53-48 in Tiger Arena on Jan. 31.  The two teams met in the MEAC Tournament in the semifinal round with the Lady Tigers defeated the Aggies 62-59 to play in the championship game, a game later won by SSU.
 
After 12 games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .347 (218-for-628) from the floor, including shooting .298 (50-for-168) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 48.2 points per game, 34.6 rebounds per game and has recorded 103 assists, 108 steals and 39 blocks. 
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the Lady Tigers with 10.1 points per game and has recorded a .308 (41-for-133) shooting from the floor, including shooting .289 (22-for-76) from the 3-point line.  Hendrix is shooting .680 (17-for-25) from the free throw line and is averaging 3.1 rebounds per game.  The Carrollton, Ga., native ranks 10th in school history with 651 points in the Division I era and third in school history with 101 made 3-pointers.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis leads the team with 6.3 rebounds per game and 2.2 blocks per set, which ranks third in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.  The Athens, Ga., native needs nine rebounds to move into third most in school history in the Division I era.  Davis has recorded 555 rebounds in her career. 
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers snapped a five-game losing streak and defeated Allen University 72-46 to begin the homestand.  For the second consecutive game, junior guard Chelsea Frazier led SSU with 12 points on 4-for-7 shooting, including 2-for-4 behind the 3-point line, and with four steals.  Sophomore forward Tanease Richardson added a career-high 11 points and a career-high eight rebounds, while junior forward Jeremica Edwards added 10 points.
 
N.C. A&T is 2-2 over the last four games with wins over North Dakota State (72-64) and Pfeiffer (74-55).  The Aggies are shooting .381 (2091-for-764), including .313 (76-243) behind the 3-point line and is averaging 60.8 points per game and 35.9 rebounds per game with 174 assists, 25 blocks and 101 steals.
 
The Aggies are led by Aprill McRae with 12.6 points per game on .530 (61-for-115) shooting and with 5.9 rebounds per game, while Dana Brown is averaging 11.1 points per game and Kala Green is averaging 9.3 points per game and 2.4 rebounds per game.
 
The Lady Tigers continue their homestand against North Carolina Central (2-10, 1-1 MEAC) on Monday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.  The Eagles travel to South Carolina State on Friday at 2 p.m. before heading to Savannah.
