SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State University offensive line coach
Donovan Jackson has been selected to participate in the 2016 NFL-NCAA Coaches Academy.
Â
Jackson will be one of 60 coaches selected to attend the academy, which runs Feb. 19-21 in Tampa, Florida, during the annual NFL and NCAA Summit.
Â
The NCAA and NFL Coaches Academy provides current, full-time intercollegiate football coaches at NCAA member institutions, some who are former NFL athletes, to expand their knowledge and insight into the world of intercollegiate football coaching.
Â
Participants at the academy will gain knowledge from a variety of workshops and interactive-discussion sessions. They will also be able to network with individuals that include the other participants, NCAA and NFL staff and other key resources in the industry.
Â
Donovan Jackson is entering his second season as offensive line coach at Savannah State.
The Winston-Salem, NC native was a four-year starter on the offensive and defensive lines at Norfolk State (2003-07) and was a team captain during the junior and senior years.
After college, Jackson played on the professional level in the Arena League with the Laredo Lobos (2007) and Chicago Rush (2008).
Â
Jackson earned his B.A. in psychology from Norfolk State in 2007 and his M.A. in teaching physical education from North Carolina A&T State University in 2012.
Â
This is the second year in a row that a member of the SSU coaching staff has participated in the Academy.
