SAVANNAH, Ga. – A severe thunderstorm that ripped through the Savannah area on Saturday, halted the final game of the Savannah State, Bethune-Cookman three-game Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) series in the top of the fourth inning.

The game will be resumed from where it was stopped at a later date. Currently, SSU leads the Southern Division with a 10-1 conference record after sweeping the first two games of the series with Cookman.

Savannah State concludes the regular season with a three-game MEAC series against South Carolina State May 2-3.  The Lady Wildcats are 8-3 going into the final MEAC series of the season. They face Florida A&M in the final three-game MEAC series of the regular season, May 2-3.

The 2015 MEAC Softball Championship is set for May 7-9 in Ormond Beach, Florida. The first place team in the MEAC Southern and Northern Division will receive a No.1 seed in the tournament.

Cookman led SSU 9-1 with one out and one runner on in the top of the fourth when a lightning delay, followed by severe rain brought the game to a halt. The Lady Wildcats racked up 11 hits over the four innings.
