SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (1-4) starts a six-game roadstand with Alabama State University (1-4) in Montgomery, Ala., Saturday at 5 p.m. ET in the Dunn-Oliver Acadome.
 
Last season, the Lady Tigers defeated the Lady Hornets 71-62 in Tiger Arena.   
 
After four games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .352 (95-for-270) from the floor, including shooting .270 (20-for-74) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 49.6 points per game, 35.4 rebounds per game and has recorded 46 assists, 48 steals and 18 blocks. 
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the Lady Tigers with 11.8 points per game and has recorded a .379 (22-for-58) shooting from the floor, including shooting .281 (9-for-32) from the 3-point line.  The Carrollton, Ga., native recorded 12 points against Georgia Southern to move into the top-10 in scoring in school history in the Division I era with 589 career points.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis leads the team with 6.0 rebounds per game and needs 10 rebounds to move into fourth place in school history in the Division I era.  The Athens, Ga., native also leads the team in block shots with 12 and is second in steals with seven.
 
The last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to Georgia Southern 64-48 in Tiger Arena Wednesday night.  With GSU holding a two-point halftime lead, the Eagles made eight straight baskets to start the third quarter, including five three pointers, to capture a 20-point lead.  Hendrix led the team with 12 points, while Davis and sophomore guard Deyja Brown each added six rebounds.
 
Alabama State lost the first two games to Southern Mississippi (65-44) and Tennessee State (74-64), but got its first win of the season against Siena 57-53.  The Lady Hornets lost the next two games against Georgia Tech 80-54 and South Alabama 47-43.  The South Alabama game started five game homestand for the Lady Hornets.
 
The Lady Hornets are led by Britney Wright with 11.3 points per game and with 6.3 rebounds per game, while Jasmine Peeples is averaging 6.5 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game and Ashanti Spencer is averaging 6.0 points per game and 2.8 rebounds per game.
 
The Lady Tigers continue the roadstand with a trip to Piscataway, N.J., to face Big Ten opponent Rutgers Saturday, Dec. 12 at 4 p.m.
