SAVANNAH, Ga. – The Savannah State University women's basketball team (1-2) travels to Starkville, Miss., to face Southeastern Conference opponent No. 8 Mississippi State (4-0) Sunday at 3 p.m. ET in Humphrey Coliseum on WatchESPN app.
 
This will be third consecutive and final SEC opponent this season for SSU and so far the Lady Tigers are looking for its first win against the SEC this season. 
 
After three games, the Lady Tigers are shooting .429 (69-for-161) from the floor, including shooting .279 (12-for-43) from the 3-point line.  SSU is averaging 58.3 points per game, 36.7 rebounds per game and has recorded 38 assists, 37 steals and 12 blocks. 
 
Junior guard Kenyata Hendrix leads the Lady Tigers with 14.7 points per game and has recorded a .486 (17-for-35) shooting from the floor, which ranks 10th in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference, including shooting .316 (6-for-19) from the 3-point line.  The Carrollton, Ga., native has recorded a total 574 career points and needs 11 points to move into the top-10 in school history in the Division I era.
 
Junior center Tiyonda Davis recorded seven rebounds at Florida last time out to move into the top-5 in rebounds in school history in the Division I era.  The Athens, Ga., native has recorded 497 total rebounds in two-plus season with the Lady Tigers. 
 
Last time out, the Lady Tigers fell to Florida 99-34 in the first road game of the season.  Hendrix led the team with 13 points, while Davis led the team with seven rebounds, four blocks and three steals against the Gators. 
 
Mississippi State has won all four games played this season in Humphrey Coliseum, including a 92-34 win over MEAC opponent of Norfolk State on Friday.  MSU is shooting .444 (148-for-333), including shooting .298 (28-for-94) at the 3-point line.  The Bulldogs averages 50.8 rebounds per game and 94.0 points per game, while recording 90 assists, 21 blocks and 51 steals.
 
The Bulldogs are led by Victoria Vivians with 16.0 points per game and 3.5 rebounds per game, while Teaira McCowan has added 15.0 points per game and 8.8 rebounds per game and 15.0 points per game.  Chinwe Okorie has recorded 10.8 points per game and 7.0 rebounds per game. 
 
The Lady Tigers return home to face in-state rival Georgia Southern on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Tiger Arena.
