Women’s Tennis Concludes Season With MEAC Win


DURHAM, N.C. – Playing at a neutral site in Durham, North Carolina, the Savannah State women's tennis team concluded their 2014 season with a 5-0, Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) win over the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

The Lady Tigers swept singles competition, winning the first four positions in straight sets. Andrea Pavlovic defeated Jasmine Jennings in the first court, and Angela Bonilla beat Petra Jerabkova in the second position.

In the third court, Nadin Olsson beat Selena Jones. Rounding out singles play, Nicole Ashiedu beat Alex Manolova. The Lady Tigers won both the fifth and sixth courts by default.

In doubles action, Pavlovic and Olsson teamed up to beat Jennings and Jerabkova, 8-0. Bonilla and Ashiedu defeated Jones and Manolova 8-1 in the second doubles court.

The Lady Tigers conclude the season with a 6-15 record, the best in the program's Division I history, and a 2-5 MEAC mark.
