THE SERIES:
Savannah State opens Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play with a three-game series at home against Florida A&M this weekend. The series will open a 15-game MEAC stretch for the Lady Tigers.

SSU won only one game of a three-game series in 2013 with the Lady Rattlers in the team's last meeting. The MEAC Southern Division rival swept a doubleheader, 6-0 and 14-6, after SSU won 4-2 in the first game of the series.

The Lady Tigers are coming off a loss to Mercer University. SSU split their last nonconference doubleheader earlier this week with the visitors from Macon. SSU won the first game 4-1, but fell in the nightcap 3-6.

SSU sophomore Torrian Wright is ranked 10th in the nation in home runs per game. Wright leads the team and the MEAC with ten homers this season.

The team is led at the plate by Wright (.348), and Amanda Hallman (.357). Hallman is 8-8 with a 6.77 ERA from the mound, while sophomore Amanda McDowell leads the Lady Tigers with an 8-5 record and a 5.58 ERA.

The Lady Tigers are 11-3 at home this year. Their only loses came against South Carolina Beaufort, Brenau University, and Mercer.
