Women’s Tennis Celebrates Senior Day


SAVANNAH, Ga. – SSU tennis senior Andrea Pavlovic was honored in pre-game ceremonies by head coach Don Andrews, Athletic Director Sterling Steward and Savannah State President Dr. Dozier, prior to the team's final home match on Monday.

The Lady Tigers dropped their final home game of the season to the University of Akron, 0-7.Pavlovic fell to Karolina Maksimava in the first court, 1-6, and 0-6.

Angela Bonilla dropped the second position in singles action to Ksenia Berestetska, 2-6 and 1-6. Playing in the third court, Nadin Olsson fell to Martina Zerbola 3-6, and 1-6.

Jennyfer Vivas fell to Shannon Newness 2-6 and 0-6. Nicole Ashiedu dropped the fifth court 1-6 and 0-6. Bria Burrows was defeated by Marta Briega 2-6, and 0-6.

In doubles action, Pavlovic and Olsson won three points in a match against Zerbola and Newnes, but eventually dropped the match 3-8. Bonilla and Vivas were defeated by Berestetska and Maksimava 0-8 in the second doubles court. Ashiedu and Williams lost to Harpaintner and Briega in the third court, 0-8.

SSU falls to 5-14 overall this season. The Lady Tigers have three remaining matches in the season. Next up, they are scheduled to play South Carolina State in a Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) game on Tuesday, March 25.
