THE GAMES:
The Lady Tigers open a nine game, season-long, home stand with a double header against Maryland Eastern Shore today. They will play a twinbill with Miles College on Thursday as well.

SSU is coming off a three-game losing streak in the Auburn Tournament last week. The Lady Tigers loss to Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne in the tournament broke a seven-game winning streak. They are 11-12 midway through the 2014 season.

Sophomore Amanda McDowell leads the Lady Tigers from the mound with a 5-5 season record and 6.87 ERA. McDowell has been stellar from the plate as well. She is batting a .306 with 15 hits and 12 RBI.

The Hallman sisters also lead the batting stats. Amber Hallman is hitting .328 with 21 hits and 14 RBI, while Amanda Hallman is batting .324 with 22 hits.

While UMES shares the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) with SSU, today's game is nonconference. UMES is a northern division team, while SSU plays in the southern division.

SSU split four games with the Lady Hawks last year, in the team's last meeting. UMES took the first doubleheader 11-10, and 6-5. The Lady Tigers won the second doubleheader 20-1 and 3-2. SSU did not play Miles College last year.
