· The Tigers advance to the quarterfinal round of the MEAC tournament for the second straight season. SSU is looking to get to the semifinals for the first time in school history. Last year, SSU quarterfinal loss to Morgan State ended its 2012-13 tournament run.

· LAST TIME THEY MET—The Tigers dropped a close game to Norfolk State when the two squads met earlier this year. In a game that was televised live on ESPNU, NSU's Malcolm Hawkins led all scorers with 16 points as the Spartans went on to win 56-49. SSU was led by second leading scorer Joshua Montgomery who had 13 points.

· SURPRISE LIFT—SSU got an unexpected spark from freshman guard Alante Fenner in their opening round win over S.C. State. Fenner led the Tigers with 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting. He is averaging 6.2 ppg.

· ALL MEAC—SSU's Jyles Smith was named to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Third Team, while the freshman Jeremiah Hill claimed All-Rookie team honors.
