Box Score 2 SAVANNAH, Ga.- Savannah State and Chicago State split a double-header at Tiger Field.

The Tigers won the opener 7-4 but lost the second game 14-5.

In the first game, the Cougars scored twice in the top of the first but Savannah State responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning as
Parker Nix drove in a run with a single,
Zachary Brigham's walk scored a run and
Marcus Wojtkowicz hit a two run single.
Â
CSU tied the game with runs in the third and fourth innings but the Tigers regained the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth when
Todd Hagen and
Mendez Elder scored runs.
Â
SSU left the bases loaded in the seventh but was able to score once as
Aaron Hoffer hit a RBI single that scored Nix.
Â
Brandon Whitmore pitched six innings to get the victory while
Kevin Herlihy earned the save while striking out three in three innings of work.
Â
Hagen and Elder had two hits each while Nix and Wojtkowicz drove in a pair of runs. Elder and Nix scored twice.

Mat Romanin had two hits and scored twice for the Cougars. Dan Mehring took the loss, giving up five hits and two runs in four innings.

In the second game, the Cougars had 16 hits while holding SSU to eight hits.
Â
Chicago State (1-4) scored three times in the second inning and twice more in the third for a 5-0 lead.

The Tigers whittled their deficit to one with a run in the fourth and three in the fifth.

In the fourth inning,
David Richards led off with a triple and scored on a ground-out by Nix. In the fifth, Hoffer led off with a walk and scored on a triple by Hagen. Elder reached on a error by the first baseman which allowed Hagen to score and Elder scored on a single by Richards.

CSU added two runs in the top of the sixth while the Tigers scored once when
Lee Moore singled and later scored on a fielder's choice by Hagen to make the score 7-5 in favor of the Cougars.

Chicago State added one run in the seventh and broke the game open by sending six runners across home plate in the eighth.

Hagen drove in two runs for SSU (2-4) while Richards and Moore collected two hits apiece. Starter
Austin Robinson took the loss. Robinson pitched 2.2 innings and gave up seven hits and five runs.

Jared Patterson had three hits, three RBI and scored twice for the Cougars. Ean McNeal was the game winner with Eric Hall getting the save. McNeal pitched five innings and surrendered six hits and four runs while striking out three.
