THE GAMES:
The Lady Tigers head to Jacksonville, Florida for the Osprey Invitational, hosted by the University of North Florida, after opening the season with a 3-1 mark in the 2014 SSU Softball Tournament last weekend. The 10-game tournament featured five teams, and was played over three days on the new Tiger Softball Field on the campus of Savannah State.

SSU beat Morgan State, Thomas University and South Carolina Beaufort in the tournament. The Lady Tigers are set to play Quinnipiac University to open the Osprey Invitational, followed by matches with Southern Illinois, Troy and UNF.

The team is batting a .321 after four games. True freshman Amanda Hallman leads the team at the plate with eight hits and a .533 batting average. Hallman also leads the team from the mound with a 2-0 record and a 1.12 ERA. She pitched 16.0 innings in the first four games with only two earned runs on 14 hits and nine strikeouts.

Head Coach Jose Gonzalez, in his 7^th year at the helm, is the all-time winningest softball coach in SSU history with a current record of 107-158. In his first year competing in the Mid-Eastern Atheltic Conference (MEAC), 2012, Gonzalez led his team to the regular season MEAC Southern Division Title. It was the first winning season in the program's history (26-24).
