SSU received a technical to start the game. Tyshawn Bell made a pair of free throws to give DSU a 2-0 lead. A dunk by
Jyles Smith tied the game at 2-2 but the Hornets answered with 12 unanswered points for a 14-2 lead with 13:29 on the clock.

Delaware State led by as many as 15 in the opening half.

The Tigers used a 8-0 run to trim their deficit to 29-22 with 4:41 left but DSU finished the half with a 11-5 spurt and went into intermission with a 40-27 advantage.

Deven Williams opened the second half with a jumper and a 3-pointer to get Savannah State within 40-32.

A dunk by Hikeem Champainge would get SSU within 42-34 with 17:16 remaining.

The Hornets' DeAndre Haywood answered with a jumper and DSU would lead by double digits the rest of the way.

DSU led by 17 at the nine minute mark but used a 9-1 run to go ahead 71-48 with 5:03 left in the game.

Smith was the lone Savannah State player in double figures with 13 points. The 6-9 senior also had a game-high eight rebounds and three blocks.

SSU out-rebounded Delaware State 28 to 22. The Hornets were limited to just two offensive rebounds.
