THE GAME:
Savannah State women's basketball opened the program's 86th season with a 106-60 rout of Columbia College on Friday.  The Lady Tigers will play Arkansas for the first time in the program's history.
 
No stranger to the nation's most suc­cessful athletic conference, the Lady Ti­gers will play a total of four SEC schools this year, tying 2012-13's schedule that had the most SEC opponents on it in school history. SSU is winless against the SEC.
 
The Lady Tigers returned all five start­ers this year. After a single game, soph­omore Kenyata Hendrix leads the team with 24 points. Fifth year senior Ezinne Kalu is second with 23 points. Freshman Jada Young leads the team in rebounds with nine.
 
SSU shot at 55.6 percent clip from the beyond the 3-point arch in their opening game. Hendrix led the squad, draining 5-of-10 3-point attempts.
