THE GAME:
SSU hits the road after back-to-back home games this past week. They head inland to Fort Valley, Georgia to face one of Savannah State's oldest rivalries in Fort Valley State University.

SSU competed in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC) against Fort Valley State for several years before elevating to NCAA Division I in 2002.

Sunday's match will be the second match between the programs this season. SSU defeated Fort Valley in a tri-match that opened the 2014 season. (Read about it here)

The Lady Tigers are 3-15 overall this season and 0-3 in conference play. They face Fort Valley State and The Citadel in nonconference matches before returning home to face North Carolina Central and North Carolina A&T State in home Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matches.

The Lady Tigers will be without junior Justice Dilworth, the team's statistical leader, this weekend. Dilworth, who is recovering from a concussion, has missed three games thus far. Her return date is unclear.

Behind Dilworth in the stats is sophomore Gabrielle Nathaniel and freshman Zariya Thomas. Nathaniel recorded a season-high 10 kills in a loss to South Carolina State on Friday night. She is averaging 1.51 kills per set and leads the team in blocks with 19. Thomas is averaging 1.67 kills per set with 85 kills on the season.
