Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 | Box Score 3 ALBANY, Ga.- Savannah State's volleyball team had a challenging weekend at the Black Excellence Volleyball Classic, dropping all four of their matches on Friday and Saturday.

The Lady Tigers fell in straight sets to Claflin and Clinton on Friday before losing in four sets to Albany State and Virginia Union on Saturday.

All matches were played at the Jones Brothers Complex on the campus of Albany State.

SSU fell to Claflin 26-28, 25-14, 25-19. Amiyah Walker finished with a double-double with 22 assists and 14 digs. Jasbrielle Veal added eight kills while Mya McCall and Kayden Lawrence both had one ace and Mina Ezikpe and Nyalah Smith had two blocks apiece.

Savannah State loss to Clinton 22-25, 13-25, 20-25.

The Lady Tigers dropped their first two sets to Albany State by scores of 8-25 and 16-25 before winning the third set 25-17. SSU lost the fourth set 15-25. Walker had 31 assists and 11 digs. Veal and Iyonna Pike both had nine kills, Lawrence had two aces and Walker, Lawrence and Veal all had one block apiece.

In their final match of the classic against Virginia Union, SSU lost the opening set 23-25 but bounced back to tie the match after winning the second set 25-19, Savannah State fell in the next two sets, 22-25 and 17-25. Walker had another double-double with 34 assists and 14 digs. Faith Woods had a dozen kills and Lawrence added 10. Veal contributed five aces and Anaya Yates finished with six blocks.

The four setbacks give Savannah State a 0-5 record on the season as they prepare for their home opener on September 11 at 6 p.m. where they will host Brewton-Parker in the inaugural Karissa Tatum Match.
