HARDEEVILLE, S.C.- The Savannah State cross country teams competed in the annual Sand Shark Invitational hosted by USC Beaufort.

The SSU men finished 31st in the 8k event.
Â
Corey Jones was the top finisher for SSU among the 303 runners. Jones had a time of 28:00.65 and finished 142nd overall.
Â
Micah Richards (28:24.77) was 158th while
Kenneth Nealy (28:50.68) was 179th,
Michael Smith (29:35.29) finished 216th and Randolph Barratt (33:23.95) was 280th.

The Savannah State women placed 35th.
Â
Kortney Sizemore had the best time of the SSU women in the 5k race.
Â
Sizemore had a time of 21:32.73 and finished 193rd overall.
Â
Alysia Potts had a time of 26:27.32 to finish 325th.
Â
Rounding out the other SSU runners were
Ashley Goss (26:43.43), Asea Mayfield (28:02.80) and Kacie Wimpye (28:02.99).

Goss was 328th overall while Mayfield finished 335th and Wimpye was 336th of the 347 runners that competed.
