THE GAME:
The Lady Tigers open Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play with today's home game against The University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
SSU enters the contest off a 93-84 win over Troy in their final game of 2013. The Lady Tigers tied a school record for most points in a single game with the win.
The Lady Tigers have been superb at home this season, outscoring opponents 256-172.
This is the eighth meeting of the teams. UMES holds a 5-2 series advantage.
Their last meeting resulted in the series' first and only overtime. The Lady Hawks beat the Lady Tigers 55-44 in the extra period on March 7, 2013.
Senior Ezinne Kalu continues to lead the Lady Tigers this season, averaging 14.8 points per game. However, the team is incredibly balanced in scoring outside of Kalu's numbers.
Jasmine Norman and Jasmine Kirkland are each averaging over 8 points a game, while Kenyata Hendrix and Bria Dorsey are each averaging over 7 points per game. Freshman Tiyonda Davis leads in rebound with 95, averaging 7.3 a game and is averaging over 6 points a game.
