THE GAME:
Savannah State will test their resolve this Saturday. After beating both Bethune-Cookman and Florida A&M in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) matches in the last two home games, SSU faces MEAC perennial power Hampton University.

This will be the third match between Hampton and SSU. The Lady Pirates have a 2-0 lead in the series. Hampton beat the Lady Tigers 70-40 in Tiger Arena last year, in the team's last meeting.

SSU will look to stay unbeaten in Tiger Arena this season, after garnering 7 of their 11 wins in Savannah.  Hampton, the four-time defending MEAC champions, are perfect in conference play this year (5-0) and have a 14-4 overall mark.

The Lady Tigers are averaging 65.6 points per game, and their 11-8 overall record is a vast improvement over last season's 7-23 mark. SSU's best NCAA Division I season record, 15-11, was set in the 2010-11 season under current head coach Cedric Baker.

Baker broke 100 NCAA Division I wins earlier this season and is only three wins from being the winningest coach in SSU women's basketball recorded history (since 1982). In Philip Wallace's five year tenure (1990-95) at SSU, he went 105-38.
